Thoughtful Assessment
Thoughtful assessment that takes time to understand your child’s individual needs.
How I Can Help
Every child is different, and the best support starts with understanding their individual communication needs. My role is to work alongside families and schools to build a clear understanding of each child’s strengths and difficulties before deciding on the most appropriate support for that child.
My Approach
Evidence-based therapy provides the foundation, but every child brings their own strengths, challenges and motivations. My role is to understand that individual profile and select and adapt evidence-based approaches to meet their individual needs, giving them the best opportunity to make meaningful progress.
Every child is unique. I take time to understand not only what they are finding difficult, but why. By combining assessment findings, observations, family and school perspectives, and current evidence, I aim to build a clear understanding of each child’s communication needs before planning intervention.
One of the things I enjoy most about Speech and Language Therapy is taking the time to understand what is really going on. Children’s communication difficulties are rarely one-dimensional, and understanding the reasons behind those difficulties helps me choose support that is tailored to the individual child, rather than simply following the same approach for everyone.

These are the areas in which I have developed particular clinical expertise and continue to develop through ongoing professional learning.
If your child’s needs fall outside these areas, I may still be able to help or advise. Where I feel another therapist would be better placed to support your child, I’ll always explain this and, where possible, help you find the most appropriate service.
About Chloë
With over 20 years’ experience as a Speech and Language Therapist, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children and young people with a wide range of communication needs across a variety of NHS services, including community clinics, nurseries, schools and family homes. Working in different parts of the country has given me a broad range of clinical experience and valuable insight into different ways of working before returning to Cumbria, where I’m now based near Penrith and support families and schools throughout the county.
Over time, my clinical interests have become increasingly focused on Speech Sound Disorder (SSD) and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)—areas where I continue to develop my expertise and particularly enjoy supporting children and their families.
I believe the best support starts with understanding the individual child. Taking time to build a clear picture of each child’s communication strengths and needs helps ensure that any recommendations, assessment or therapy are thoughtful, practical and tailored to the child in front of me.
